  • A RICH HISTORY IN MARITIME FINANCE

    Nesec was founded in 1946 with a dual purpose, namely to promote the export of Dutch built ships and provide subordinated loans to shipowners. As such, Nesec has been active for more than 70 years as financial instution for the maritime sector. Even now Nesec aims to provide loans to in particularly Dutch built ships. Besides this Nesec is developing credit funds to provide long term financing of maritime and offshore capital assets.

     

    HISTORY OF NESEC AT A GLANCE

    1946

    Nesec is founded by  6 shipbuilders.

    1949

    Delivery of the first series of 8 tugs to Poland.

    1951

    Start direct lending to shipowners.

    1963-1973

    Tumultuous growth of shipping and shipbuilding.

     

    1974

    Winschoterdiep expands to 16 metres, wider ships are being built, indoor building becomes a common practice.

    1977

    Besides exportfinance for foreign shipowners, Dutch shipowners are provided with loans.

    1980

    Nesec takes on external funding.

    1990

    Nesec aims at financing instead of export.

    2006

    Separation finance activities and idealistic goal.

    2009

    Nesec is accredited in accordance with Growth facility of ministry of Economic affairs.

    2013

    Issuance Nesec bonds

    2018

    Provision of mortgage backed loans with guarantee from the ministry of Economic affairs for funding of institutional investors.
